Robert Reavis Discusses What Employee Owned M&A Deals Look Like
ButcherJoseph & Co. Director Robert Reavis was recently featured in Employee Ownership (EO), where he shared perspective on what middle-market investors want to see in employee-owned M&A deals and on activity across the broader mergers and acquisitions market this year.
Robert discussed growing interest among employee ownership companies in internal marketplace models, where equity is granted through a company-wide pool or individual awards, an approach advanced by the nonprofit Ownership Works. He noted that ESOPs continue to be a model owners choose, addressing retention, legacy and ESG considerations.
Robert also points to ESOPs as a retention tool for truck drivers, who face demanding routes and are often drawn away by competitors offering marginally higher pay. On the broader M&A market, he highlighted continued momentum in data center transactions and the blue-collar specialty firms, including construction contractors and electricians, that support them.
