Rick Hennessey
Director
Rick Hennessey is a Director at ButcherJoseph & Co., where he advises privately held businesses on ownership succession, capital strategy, and transformative events. He has a particular focus on founder- and family-owned companies navigating third-party sales, management or ESOP buyouts, growth capital raises, and the development and execution of strategic growth plans.
Since joining ButcherJoseph in 2015 as an Analyst, Rick has advanced to Director through consistent execution, trusted client relationships, and leadership within the firm. He has led successful transactions across a range of industries, including construction and engineering, distribution, government services, consumer products, and hospitality. His combination of technical expertise and intuitive client service has helped founders and leadership teams achieve both financial and legacy-driven outcomes.
Rick’s professional achievements have been recognized across the M&A industry. He received The M&A Advisor Emerging Leaders Award in 2020, was a member of the inaugural ACG St. Louis Emerging 20 class of 2019–2020 and has twice been named a Top 100 St. Louisan to Know in Business by St. Louis Small Business Monthly.
In addition to his client work, Rick serves on the advisory board of Neighborhood LTC Pharmacy, a Nebraska-based institutional pharmacy with operations in six states.
Earlier in his career, Rick was a Senior Financial Analyst at VMG Health in Dallas, where he advised healthcare clients on valuations and transactions. He earned a B.B.A. in Finance, magna cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame. A native of St. Louis, he is a graduate of the Saint Louis Priory School.
