Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of work will I actually be doing? Live deal work. Summer Analyst Interns will support transaction execution for ESOP buyouts, M&A engagements, recapitalizations, and valuation assignments, working directly with the bankers staffed on each deal.

Is this a generalist program? Yes. ButcherJoseph does not organize by industry vertical or transaction type, so Summer Analyst Interns are exposed to a range of transaction types and sectors across the ten weeks rather than being placed on a single desk.

How much access will I have to senior bankers? ButcherJoseph is a small, tight-knit team by design, so interns work directly with vice presidents and firm leadership on live engagements, not just with other analysts.

What is the timeline for application submission? Application portal is open from August 17 – September 11.

Which office will I work out of? The Summer Analyst Internship Program is based in our St. Louis headquarters.

Will I have a mentor during the program? Yes, each Summer Analyst Intern will be paired with a dedicated mentor at the Associate level.

Will I be considered for a full-time role even if I don’t attend a target school? Yes. We do not recruit exclusively from a fixed list of schools. We look for enthusiastic, self-motivated candidates with strong financial modeling ability, sharp writing and communication skills, and genuine intellectual curiosity.

Do you offer full-time roles after the internship? Strong performers are considered for full-time Analyst positions. Our goal with the Summer Analyst Internship Program is to build our future full-time class.
